1st Poster Show Juried Exhibition open to all fine art printmaking medium.
What defines a poster? Posters are often used for decorations or advertising. We hang them on walls to claim and customize spaces, to document our idols and interests, to commemorate and memorialize. They bring ideas into public places through eye-catching design and messaging. They can function as protest or propaganda. Posters are meant to reach an audience. The deadline for digital submissions is April 20th.

classes and workshops
We offer instruction in intaglio, relief, collagraph, monotype, and letterpress. We hope to expand to include other techniques as we grow into the future. If you are interested in taking a specific class or receiving individual instruction please contact our office. If you are an arts educator who would be interested in using the Red Onion Press classroom space to offer printmaking or letterpress related classes to the community, we would love to talk to you about how we can work together.
Additionally, we offer group classes and tours for students, retirement communities, and unique office team building activities. Come learn these classic, hands-on techniques for making beautiful works of art from experienced instructors.
For a list of our current offerings please visit the Classes page under the Studio tab at the top of this page.
Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 10 to 6 PM.
The studio facilities are opened up for printmakers and those who want to learn. Bring your plate or drawing and Red Onion staff will be on hand to introduce you to the shop and get you started. Otherwise, just stop by and see how you take advantage of this great art facility in your neighborhood.
Where does the name "Red Onion Press" come from?
The name we chose for our Press comes from railroad slang that harkens back to the days of hobo lore. A "red onion" refers to the overnight flophouses along the route where train crews would meet, sit around the pot bellied stoves and spin yarns late into the night. Both Acworth and our new location in Kennesaw are just a stone's throw from the Atlanta/Chattanooga Railroad route so we thought it would be a great way to connect the old with the new!
Our skilled artists and printmakers are ready to produce quality short run fine letterpress printed products for your special occasion. We specialize in wedding invitations, greeting cards, stationery and restaurant menus. Using modern digital design with early 20th century print methods we can produce elegant embossed lettering in various type fonts, colors on distinctive cardstock or fine papers.
